To provide a lighting system for an endoscope, which can uniformly light up the inner surface in a lumen.
The lighting system (5) mounted on an endoscope (1) with an imaging unit (20) includes a light source (7) and a light guiding member (8) having translucency. The light guiding member (8) includes a first face (11) with light diffusing effect, a second face (12) facing the first face to transmit and project the light from the inside, and a third face (13) which is positioned between the first and second faces and takes the light from the light source (7) into the inside of the light guiding member. The second face (12) is a curved face convex to the outside of the light guiding member, and the light guiding member is disposed inside the endoscope so that the light axis (26) of the imaging unit (20) and the second face are almost in parallel. When viewed from the direction of the light axis, the cross section of the light guiding member (8) is included within the outline of the endoscope tip end.
