To provide a lighting system for an operating member, which secures brightness of a display part and reduces power consumption, in a structure of illuminating a display part provided in the operating member with the use of stored light of a light-storing material.

When a lamp switch is put on, an LED 11 is conducted, and visible light is irradiated on an end face of a light guide lens 12, so that a character display part 6f of a knob 6 is illuminated by light passing the light guide lens 12. The light guide lens 12 is made of a light-storing material containing light-storing pigment 13, and stores light energy in a state receiving light from the LED 11, and irradiates visible light by consuming light energy stored with conduction to the LED 11 in a stopped state. With this, brightness of the character display part 6f of the knob 6 is increased, and thereby the character display part 6f is visually recognized continuously, even in the case where conduction to the LED 11 is stopped at night.
