To provide a lighting system, in which a luminaire is not darkly lighted being influenced by a light source of a luminaire lighted beforehand.
This lighting system has an illuminance sensor 5 to detect illuminance of a surface to be irradiated, a light modulating device 6 to control light modulation by a detected signal from the illuminance sensor 5, and plural luminaires 1-4 equipped with light sources controlled for light modulation by a modulated light signal from the light modulating device 6. In this case, when lighting of a second luminaire starts after a first luminaire is lighted, it is lighted in a condition where its brightness is at least almost same or brighter in comparison with the brightness of the first luminaire in the condition where the light is modulated.
