PURPOSE: To reduce greatly both the signal detection and the throughput as a whole, by utilizing both the logic decision of the code of the Haar coefficient of the signal to be detected and the decision of the likelihood ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Observation data row S is supplied to likelihood ratio calculating circuit U as well as to Haar development circuit H. Circuit H develops data row S and then supplies the coefficient of row S to coefficient comparison logic circuit R. Circuit R decides the waveform of the signal to be detected that is most similar to data row S from the Haar coefficient of the output of circuit H, and then supplies the output H' to selection switching circuit E. Circuit E selects signal N' that is most similar to coefficient H' among the outputs of memory circuits N1∼NN for the signal to be detected and by output H' of circuit R, and then supplies the signal N' to circuit U. Circuit U obtaines likelihood ratio U' concerning the observation data from selected signal N' to be detected and data row S. Comparator P compares ratio U' with set value T' of threshold setting circuit T, and then delivers output O in case the signal to be detected exists.
