PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-line roll profile measuring device without being affected by errors based on the change of rolling conditions.
SOLUTION: A roll grinder unit 5 is situated facing a rolling roll 1a and composed of a rotary grindstone 20 for grinding the rolling roll 1a, grindstone driving device for rotationally driving the rotary grinding wheel 20 and grindstone feed gear for pressing the rotary grinding wheel 20 against the rolling roll 1a. With a grindstone traversing device, the roll grinder unit 5 is moved in the axial direction of the rolling roll 1a to a slide rail frame 8 which is fixed to a rolling housing 4 for holding the rolling roll 1a. While grinding the rolling roll 1a with the rotary grinding wheel 20, the roll profile is determined from the travels of both grinding wheel feed gear and grinding wheel traversing device. Furthermore, the deformation of the rolling housing 4 causing by the change of rolling conditions during measuring the roll profile is measured with a roll movement measuring device 6 and the deformation of the rolling housing is corrected from the roll profile determind during rolling with an information processor.
