To produce a new compound useful as a chemical synthetic intermediate for mass-producing lipid A and its derivative in good yield on an industrial scale.
This compound is represented by formula I (R1 is allyl; R2 is a group reductively eliminable group; R3 is a hydrolyzable group), e.g. a compound represented by formula II (Bzl is benzyl; Troc is 2,2,2- trichloroethoxycarbonyl). The compound represented by formula I is produced by reacting a compound represented by formula III {e.g. 1-imino-2,2,2- trichloroethyl 6-O-benzyloxymethyl-2-deoxy-3,4-di-O-benzyl-2-[2,2,2- trichloroethoxycarbonylamino]-D-glucopyranoside} with a compound represented by formula IV {e.g. allyl 2-deoxy-3,4-di-O-benzyl-2-[(R)-3-(4- trifluoromethylbenzyloxy)octadecanoylamino]-α-D-glucopyranoside} in an inert solvent.
