Title:
LIQUEFACTION PREVENTION STRUCTURE FOR BUILDING GROUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1018308
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To restrain shearing deformation of a building ground, prevent liquefaction of the ground, and prevent damage to piles by constructing a plurality of retaining walls at specified intervals around a wall continuously surrounding a foundation structure of a building.

A surrounding wall 2 is constructed in a square shape around foundation piles 11 of a building 1. A plurality of retaining walls 3 are constructed on each outer side of the surrounding wall 2 in the direction at right angles to the surrounding wall 2 at specified intervals. The shape and thickness of the surrounding wall 2, and the number, width and thickness of the retaining wall 3 are selected appropriately according to the scale of the building and the ground conditions. In the event of an earthquake, a force causing shearing deformation to the ground within the surrounding wall 2 may be transmitted to the highly rigid wall 21 through a wall 22 in the area near a wall 21 and in the area distant from the wall 21, to the retaining wall 3 through the wall 22. As a result, shearing deformation of the ground within the surrounding wall 2 may be restrained without increasing the thickness of the surrounding wall 2, and ground liquefaction and damage to the piles 11 are prevented.
