Abstract:
To provide a liquid crystal composition satisfying at least one of demands for characteristics such as a high maximum temperature, low minimum temperature, small viscosity, suitable optical anisotropy, large dielectric anisotropy, large specific resistance, high stability and large elastic modulus or showing a suitable balance in at least two of the above characteristics, and an AM element comprising the above composition.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition comprises a specific compound as a first component that is selected from compounds represented by formula (1) and has negatively large dielectric anisotropy, and may contain a specific compound as a second component that has a high maximum temperature or a small viscosity, a specific compound as a third component that has negative dielectric anisotropy, or a specific compound as a first additive that has a polymerizable group.SELECTED DRAWING: None
