Abstract:

To provide a new compound suitable as a liquid crystal.

The compounds are expressed by formula (I) [wherein, formula (II) is shown by formula (III); regarding to Z1, Z2, L1to L4, X, (u) and (v), L1to L4are each independently H or F; Z1, Z2are each independently -CO-O-, -O-CO-, -C2F4-, C2H4-, -CH=CH-, -CF=CF-, CH=CF-, -CF=CH-, -CH2O-, OCH2-, -C≡C- or a single bond; X is F, Cl, CN, OCN, NCS, SCN, SF5, a ≤6C unsubstituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkyl halide, alkenyl halide, halogenated alkoxy or halogenated alkenyloxy; (u) is 0, 1, 2 or 3: and (v) is 1 or 2 and provided that (u+v) is ≤3] and a liquid crystal display equipped with ≥1 kind of the compound is also provided.
