Abstract:

To improve display quality by providing the liquid crystal display device with a barrier which delineates a liquid crystal injection port, is formed along the inner side of an adhesive part on at least one of substrates and comes into liquid-tight contact with the other of the substrates.

A barrier 5 is formed along the inner side of an adhesive part 3 on at least one of the substrates 2 while delineating a liquid crystal injection port 4 and plays the role of an embankment to come into liquid-tight contact with the other of the substrates 2. Namely, plural spacers are arranged between the alignment layers of both substrates 2 of an effective display region 6 and the liquid crystal injection port 4 is end-sealed by an end-sealing material into the space hermetically closed by the barrier 5 between the substrates 2 superposed on each other, by which the liquid crystal display element is manufactured. This liquid crystal display element has the effective display region in the outer peripheral part of the effective display region 6. The barrier 5 and the adhesive part 3 are arranged in the region outside the display. The barrier 5, which is formed along the inner side of the adhesive part on one substrate 2 and comes into liquid-tight contact with the other of the substrates 2 in such a manner, prevents the liquid crystals from coming into contact with the adhesive part on the outer side.
