Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having enhanced reliability to a seal, in the device e.g. an STN liquid crystal display device using a plastic substrate, etc., to which a low temperature manufacturing process at ≤160°C is required and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.
SOLUTION: A sealing material 7 is disposed on a transparent substrate 1 made of plastics and temporally fired and columnar spacers 21 within a seal are formed on a transparent substrate 2 made of plastics. The transparent substrate 1 having the sealing material 7 disposed thereon and the transparent substrate 2 having the columnar spacers 21 within a seal formed thereon are stuck to each other so that the columnar spacers 21 within the seal are buried in the sealing material 7 at a sealing part 8, thermally pressurized, baked and sealed to manufacture the liquid crystal display. At this time, the temporally firing and the baking are performed at ≤160°C.
