Abstract:
To provide a liquid crystal display device in which generation of iridescent speckles is suppressed when an oriented polyester film is used as a polarizer protective film for both of a pair of polarizing plates.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a backlight light source, two polarizing plates and a liquid crystal cell disposed between the two polarizing plates. The backlight light source is a white light source having a continuous emission spectrum. The polarizing plate is constituted by laminating a polarizer protection film on both sides of a polarizer. At least one of the polarizer protective films of the polarizing plate disposed on the incoming light side, and at least one of the polarizer protective films of the polarizing plate disposed on the outgoing light side are oriented polyester films having a retardation of 4000 to 30000 nm and an Nz coefficient of 1.7 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
