Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the brightness of the display device formed by using an active matrix liquid crystal panel and to obscure the grid patterns (black matrix) by the shielding layers within the panel. CONSTITUTION:This display device is constituted by disposing lens arrays 300, 310 having the arrangement equal to the arrangement of picture elements on both of the incident side and exit side of the liquid crystal panel 3, disposing corresponding unit lens elements 305, 315 between the two lens arrays in such a manner that the condensing point f thereof is copossessed and positioning the copossessed condensing point f near the center of an aperture 240 by the shielding layers 230. This liquid crystal is applied to the direct viewing type display device or projection type display device.
