Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011203670
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To solve the following problem: the uniformity of display is spoiled due to the occurrence of alignment abnormality in which an alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules is shifted from a desired direction in an edge part of a display pixel, in a mono-domain vertical alignment display element having a matrix-like intersecting pixel electrodes.

An oblique electric field generated by employing a layered structure as an electrode structure is used to control alignment of liquid crystal molecules in the edge part of the display pixel, whereby uniform display is achieved. For this achievement, an auxiliary electrode 35 is provided in a portion facing a space between adjacent counter electrodes 36, on a transparent electrode 31, and a driving signal identical to a driving signal applied to the transparent electrode 31 is applied to the auxiliary electrode 36.
