Abstract:
PURPOSE:To cancel the difference in the display characteristics between positive polarity driving and negative polarity driving and to improve the quality of liquid crystal display images by alternately impressing signals of the polarities different from each other on the respective picture element electrodes formed to face each other on both sides of a liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION:The positive and negative display signals are alternately impressed to liquid crystal display elements 3 and, therefore, the display driving by the alternate driving is executed when the display signals of both the positive and negative polarities are alternately impressed to the respective picture element electrodes 27, 28 facing each other. Since the display signals of the positive polarity and the negative polarity are simultaneously impressed to the respective picture element electrodes 27, 28, the display characteristics of both of the positive polarity driving and the negative polarity driving are eventually obtd. in combination. The display characteristics of both of the positive polarity driving and the negative polarity driving eventually appear in the respective liquid crystal display element 3 and the effect of apparently canceling the differences in the display characteristics by the positive polarity and negative polarity driving is obtd.
