Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce the device having a high density and high fineness by forming a common electrode into multiple layers, thereby lowering the wiring resistance and lessening the generation of disconnections. CONSTITUTION:This display device is constituted by crimping a liquid crystal layer 3 between a pair of transparent substrates 1 and 1' and disposing active elements, i.e. elements (MIM) elements 5 consisting of conductors-insulators- conductors to each of the display picture elements of the one substrate. The common electrode 4' of the substrate disposed with the MIM elements of such display device is made into the multilayered structure; in addition, the common electrode 4' and the upper electrodes 6 of the elements 5 are constituted of the same material. Not only the lowered wiring resistance but also the decreased disconnection by dust, unequal resists, etc., and the improved yield are resulted by forming the common electrode into the multiple layers. Further, the lowering of the resistance is possible even with a material which has heretofore drawbacks with a single layer if the common electrode is made into the multiple layers. The generation of the layer peeling is obviated and the inexpensive production is possible.
