PURPOSE: To obtain a liquid crystal(LC) display device capable of driving LC by an optional driving method.
CONSTITUTION: In the LC display device, a horizontal direction display control signal corresponding to the sort of an LC display unit 2 is generated by an SNB signal preparing circuit 81, an STB signal preparing circuit 82 and a clock preparing circuit 83 in a horizontal direction control circuit 71 included in an LC driving interface circuit 70. A vertical direction display control signal corresponding to the sort of the unit 2 is generated by a CNB signal preparing circuit 84, a frequency dividing CDB signal preparing circuit 88 and a CFB signal preparing circuit 86 in a vertical direction control circuit 72 and outputted to a mode selecting circuit 73. Especially the circuit 88 generates three kinds of CDB signals for simultaneously driving 1st to 3rd lines and outputs the generated signals to the circuit 73, which outputs vertical and horizontal direction display control signals corresponding to one of three driving methods to the unit 2 based upon an LC sort signal MS.
