Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a high picture quality being equal to that of a CRT at a low cost, and also, to obtain a large picture plane by forming the structure of a switching use non-linear resistance element by a two-terminal element consisting of a conductor/a multi-layer calcined film of a metallic alkoxide/a conductor. CONSTITUTION:By forming the structure of a switching use non-linear resistance element by a two terminal element consisting of a conductor/a multi-layer calcined film of metallic alkoxide/a conductor, a current - voltage characteristic is steeper than the case a metallic alkoxide calcined film 2 inserted and held between MIMs or conductors is formed by a single layer. Also, there is no characteristic difference. The calcined film 2 of metallic alkoxide has only a pin hole of about source of Angstrom and a picture element electrode 1 and a scanning electrode are scarcely short-circuit, and also, due to a multi-layer structure, the pin hole of the first layer is covered with the second layer, and the reliability is further improved. As for the calcined film 2 of metallic alkoxide, since a dielectric constant is small, a response speed is high, and it can be executed to reduce the power consumption and to enlarge an active element. In such a way, while holding the reliability in the manufacturing process, the simplification is facilitated, and a large picture plane of a liquid crystal display device can be realized.
