Abstract:
PURPOSE:To realize a sharp and distinct image display by arranging a stripe shape projecting material between picture element electrodes on one substrate, and providing a shielding layer on this projecting material. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 such as ITO, an active element 3, an insulating layer 4, a shielding layer 5, liquid crystal-resin complexes 6, a substrate 7 such as glass for a facing substrate and facing electrodes such as ITO are arranged on a substrate 1 such as glass or plastic for an active matrix substrate. Since this liquid crystal display element has the stripe shape projecting-like insulating layer 4 and the shielding layer 5 on this insulating layer 4, it can sandwich the liquid crystal-resin complexes 6 capable of controlling electrically a scattering condition and a transmitting condition, so that a polarizing plate becomes unnecessary and light transmission factor can be improved significantly in the case of transmitting. Furthermore, since orientation treatment such as rubbing is not required, manufacturing yield can be improve.
