Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display element which has small number of parts and whose assembling work is easy and to improve performance, quality and reliability and to reduce a cost by laminating a liquid crystal driving panel and an optical compensator provided with both of a phase difference compensating function and a vision compensating function. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal driving panel 1 is obtained by injecting and sealing liquid crystal which is homogeneously oriented in a voltage non-impressing state. The optical compensator 2 is provided with both of the phase difference compensating function and the vision compensating function. The panel 1 and the compensator 2 are superposed and polarizing plates 3 and 4 are arranged at both ends of the superposed panel 1 and the compensator 2. The liquid crystal molecule 24' of a liquid crystal compensating panel 200 which constitutes the compensator 2 is arranged so as to be rotated between upper and lower substrates, that means, arranged to be twisted. The liquid crystal panel constituted in such a way is provided with the phase difference compensating function. Since the liquid crystal molecule 24' is twisted, light is transmitted through a polarizing plate 4 in an oblique direction at a certain spread angle by the effect of double refraction and vision is expanded after all.
