Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal display element which is expanded in a visual field angle with simple constitution by disposing the surface opposite from the microlens units of a microlens array sheet formed with the microlens units on one surface to the observation surface side of a liquid crystal cell of a dot matrix system. CONSTITUTION:The surface on the side opposite from the surface formed with the microlens units 1 of the microlens array sheet 2 formed with the many microlens units 1 is formed as the observation surface side and is provided on the observation surface side of the liquid crystal display cell 3. The cell is observed from an arrowmarked direction 4. The rays to be observed when the liquid crystal display element is observed from the angle exceeding the critical visual field angle of the liquid crystal display cell 3 are eventually observed as the rays transmitted through the display cell part 3 at the angles of the range not exceeding the critical visual field angles of the cell by the refraction in the respective unit lenses 1 of the microlens array sheet 2. Then, the high-display grade is obtd. and the visual field angle is expanded.
