PURPOSE: To reduce a device at its size by forming an electrode plate by an one- axis extending plastic substrate and an electrode formed on the substrate, making a back electrode making a pair with a segment electrode intersect with the segment electrode and forming 90° from the extending direction.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal substance 14 is sealed between one-axis extending plastic plates 2, 5 through spacers 12 and the back electrode 4 corresponding to the segment electrode 1, a fellow to the electrode 4, is sealed. In addition, polarizing plates 11, 13 are fitted to the upper and lower sides. The direction of the segment electrode 1 is different from that of the back electrode 4 by 90° around the extending direction of the substrate and both the electrode plates are oriented rectangularly to the extending direction of the substrate. Polyester is proper for the one-axis extending plastic plates and the thickness is included in a range of 50W500μm. Thus, a light-weighted and easily assembled element is formed.
