To provide a liquid crystal display panel in which an aperture ratio is enlarged while suppressing occurrence of image persistence on a screen.
A gate bus line, a data bus line and a pixel electrode are formed on a facing surface of a first substrate and a common electrode is formed on a facing surface of a second substrate. A liquid crystal layer has a high refractive index state, a low refractive index state, and their intermediate refractive index state. An outer edge part of the pixel electrode overlaps with the gate bus line. When a capacitance between the pixel electrode and the gate bus line is represented by CGS, a capacitance which is a total of capacitances between the pixel electrode and the adjacent gate bus line, between that and the adjacent data bus line, and between that and the common electrode in the high refractive index state is represented by CPX1, that in the low refractive index state is represented by CPX2, and an absolute value of a difference between a gate bus line voltage to make a switching element in a conduction state and that to make the switching element in a nonconduction state is represented by ΔVG, an inequality |(1/CPX1)-(1/CPX2)|×CGS×ΔVG<1 holds.
