PURPOSE: To provide the liquid crystal display panel which is inexpensive, does not require intricate control and can maintain a specified temp. by disposing a surface heating element having a self-temp. regulating function on the rear surface side of the liquid crystal display panel.

CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal compsn. 1 is clamped by a pair of substrates 2, 3 with electrodes and further, a protective plate 4 is disposed on the front surface side of the substrates. A reflection plate or supporting plate 5 is disposed on the rear surface side 5. The surface heating element having at least either of electrical conductive property and heat transfer property is used as this reflection plate or supporting plate 5. Carbon fillers come into contact with each other to form energizing routes at the time of non-conduction in the case of utilization of, for example, carbon as conductive fillers and use of conductive rubber contg. the carbon fillers in rubber (plastic) as the surface heating element. The contact between the carbon fillers is released and the energization is cut off when the conductive rubber is energized to generate heat and to expand. Then, the conductive rubber cools down and shrinks and maintain the temp. constant by repeating such actions.
