To improve the yield rate of a polarization plate blanking process and to provide high-performance liquid crystal displays of an OCB (optically compensatory bend) type, an HAN (hybrid alined nematic mode) type, and an ECB (electrically controlled birefringence) type.
While a holding means holds both ends of an optical polymer film which is continuously supplied, the optical polymer film is applied with tension and drawn with a μ1.2 to μ10 drawing rate along the length and μ1.1 to μ20.0 drawing rate along the width so that the travel speed difference between both the film ends along the length of the holding means is ≤1% and the volatilization rate is ≥5% to form a polarization film formed by bending the film travel direction while both the film ends are held so that the angle between the travel direction of the film at the exit of a process of holding both the film ends and the substantial drawing direction of the film is 40 to 50°. The liquid crystal display device which uses the polarization film employs one of the OCB type, HAN type, and ECB type for liquid crystal representation.
