Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a liquid crystal lens at a lower voltage than a prior art.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal lens 1 comprises: a first electrode 2 including a first electrode part 14 that includes a circular opening 14a and a second electrode part 15 that is arranged inside the opening 14a; a second electrode 4 that is arranged opposite to the first electrode 2; a liquid crystal layer 7 that is arranged between the first electrode 2 and second electrode 4; and power sources 16 to 18 that apply an AC voltage to the first electrode 2 and second electrode 4. The power sources 16 to 18 include: a first power source 16 that applies, to the first electrode part 14, a voltage having a first rectangular wave; a second power source 17 that applies, to the second electrode part 15, a voltage having a second rectangular wave with the same phase as that of the first rectangular wave of the first power source 16; and a third power source 18 that applies, to the second electrode 4, a voltage having a third rectangular wave with a phase different from that of the first rectangular wave and second rectangular wave by 180°.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
