Abstract:
PURPOSE: To decrease after-images and seizure and to obtain good memory characteristics by adding specific compds. into the liquid crystal oriented film consisting of specific polyimide.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal oriented film which is applied on a substrate with transparent electrodes and consists of the polyimide expressed by formula I contains at least one kind of the compds. having the skeleton expressed by formula II or formula III at 0.01 to 20wt.% to the polymide. In the formulas, X denotes a bivalent arom. group or bivalent aliphat. group; Y denotes a quadrivalent arom. group or alicyclic group. Z denotes -S-, -O- or =NH; R denotes a phenyl group, benzyl group or alkyl group; (m) and (n) denotes 0 or 1 integer. As a result, the oriented film and liquid crystal element which have good orientability and are decreased in the after-images and seizure are obtd. A good memory state is obtd. if this oriented film is used for the liquid crystal display element.
