PURPOSE: To obtain plural independent kinds of screen coufiguration in one screen by providing a liquid crystal panel where plural image display areas are set, a display controller which converts image display areas, and a circuit which arbitrates operation between respective display controllers.

CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal panel 5 where plural image display areas are set is provided, and the display controllers 2 and 2a which read image data out of display memories 3 and 3a and convert the image data into the screen data for image display in corresponding image display areas are provided by the image display areas; and the arbitrating circuit 11 arbitrates the opera tion between the display controllers 2 and 2a. Then the display data are inputted to the image display areas put in charge of the display controllers 2 and 2a and a liquid crystal panel 5 and images are displayed. Consequently, the mutu ally independent image can be displayed in the respective image display areas.
