To provide a new liquid crystalline compound providing a liquid crystal film having excellent alignability, heat resistance and molding processability.

The compound is represented by formula (1) [wherein, R1is hydrogen or methyl; L1and L2are each independently one of a single bond, -O-, -O-CO- and -CO-O-; M1is represented by formula (2):-P1-L3-P2-L4-P3-, formula (3):-P1-L3-P3- or formula (4):-P3-; n is an integer of 0-10; and M2is a group selected from formula (7)]. [In formulas (2), (3) and (4), P1and P2are each independently a group selected from formula (5); P3is a group selected from formula (6); and L3and L4are each independently a single bond, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -O-, -O-CO- or -CO-O-].
