This liquid detergent composition comprises (a) 1-60 wt.% of a nonionic surfactant, (b) 0.1-40 wt.% of a branched-chain alkyl sulfate and (c) 0.1-30 wt.% of a quaternary nitrogen-containing polymer. This liquid detergent composition comprises (a) 1-60 wt.% of a nonionic surfactant, (b) 0.1-40 wt.% of a branched-chain alkyl sulfate in which the branched-chain alkyl group comprises a 4-16C main chain and has 5-24 total carbon atoms and (c) 0.1-30 wt.% of a polymer of an unsaturated monomer containing a compound of general formula c1 [R1 to R3 are each hydrogen, hydroxy group or a 1-3C alkyl group; X is a 1-12C alkylene group, COOR7, CONHR7 or R8-OCO-R7 (R7 and R8 are each a 1-5C alkylene group); R4 is a 1-3C alkyl group, hyddroxyalkyl group or an R1R2C=C(R3)-X; R5 and R6 are each a 1-3C alkyl group or hydroxyalkyl group; Y- is an anionic group].
