To provide a liquid droplet discharging apparatus being constituted in such a manner that whether the discharging state of liquid droplets is normal or not can be detected without enlarging the apparatus size, and also, to provide the liquid droplet discharging apparatus which can find discharging abnormality at an early stage.
This liquid droplet discharging apparatus includes a flow passage unit 22 for which a nozzle and an ink flow passage are formed, and a piezoelectric actuator which imparts a pressure to an ink in the ink flow passage. Also, the flow passage unit 22 includes a nozzle plate 33 consisting of a piezoelectric material, and a first electrode 61 and a second electrode 62 which are respectively arranged in the nozzle peripheral region on both surfaces of the nozzle plate 33. Then, a printer is constituted in such a manner that whether the discharging state of liquid droplets from the nozzle 40 is normal or not can be judged conforming to an electric potential difference between the first electrode 61 and the second electrode 62 which is generated when the pressure is imparted to the ink in the ink flow passage by the piezoelectric actuator.
