Abstract:
To provide a liquid discharge device which prevents discharge failure caused by a non-discharge nozzle array being dried without deteriorating productivity for idle discharge.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge device 100 includes: a discharge head 1 which has nozzle arrays 10a, 10b in which nozzles for discharging liquid droplets to a transported discharged medium are arranged substantially parallel to a discharged medium transport direction in rows; and a cap 21 which can cover the nozzle arrays of the discharge head 1. When a liquid discharge operation is performed to the discharge medium with one 10a of the nozzle arrays, the other nozzle array 10b which does not perform the discharge operation is capped with the cap 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
