PURPOSE: To obtain a new separating apparatus, wherein high-speed liquid chromatography using a new column filler is adopted in an electrophoresis method, by using a granular material as a carrier, and flowing a liquid forcibly and steadily in the direction perpendicular to a DC electric field.
CONSTITUTION: An elute 1 folws through a filler 3, which is held between a pair of parallel plates, through a liquid dispersing plate 13 by a pump 11. A sample is continuously sent through a pipe 12 by switching a valve 18. Ion exchanged films are closely contacted with both side surfaces of the parallel plates, so that the filler is not spilled out of the side surfaces. An electric field is imparted by electrodes 5 and 5' from the side at the same time. At the inlet port at the lower end of the flat shaped column, several tens of pipes having filters are arranged. The elute flows out trough the pipes. Theses pipes are guided to a multi-path photometer 15, which projects a monochromatic light beam on transparent pipes on a photodiode array and measures absobance. The elute is inputted into test tubes on a fraction collector 16. The output of the photometer 15 is display on a display device 17. Through these procedures, it is determined that in which tube the objective component is contained.
