To provide a liquid jet device capable of reducing a liquid remaining on a nozzle-forming surface and realizing correct liquid jets by maintaining a liquid meniscus formed in nozzles.
The liquid jet device discharges ink from nozzles N after sealing the nozzle-forming surface 8a with a cap member 11. When the quantity of the ink discharged from the nozzles N exceeds a suction quantity of a suction pump and a body case 20 is filled with the ink, the ink flows through a clearance D along the top face 30 of the nozzle-forming surface 8a and an ink absorber 23 as shown by the arrows 35 and 36. Namely, the ink increases the flow rate in the vicinity of the nozzle-forming surface 8a, namely, the ink causes a convection in the vicinity of the nozzle forming surface 8a. The force of the convection is applied to the ink adhering to the nozzle-forming surface 8a and separates the ink from the nozzle-forming surface 8a. Consequently residual ink adhering to and residing in the nozzle-forming surface 8a can be reduced.
