Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture this device with a simple structure at a low cost and to surely detect a residual quantity of a fuel at a position different from a fuel tank.
SOLUTION: This device comprises a liquid level measuring section 3 consisting of a pipe material wherein an upper end section and a lower end section are communicate with an upper section and a lower section of a liquid reservoir section, respectively and a liquid in the reservoir section is introduced thereinto and a sensor 4 of which tip section 45 is disposed in an inner section of the liquid level measuring section 3. The sensor 4 is an optical sensor constituted such that a light supplied to a base end section passes through the inner section and reflected by the tip section 45 to be reversed toward the base end section and a quantity of the light reversed toward the base end section at the tip section 45 is varied corresponding to the presence or absence of the liquid 20 at the tip section 45. The tip section 45 is thinner as it goes toward the tip to be in a tapered cone shape. The tip section 45 of the sensor 4 is projected to a hollow section 30 of the liquid level measuring section 3 so that a rear end of the cone section is placed on the hollow section 30 of the liquid level measuring section 3.
