Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid light guide and a method for manufacturing the liquid light guide, in which the material cost can be further reduced while achieving equivalent optical performance to that of a conventional one by forming a thinner clad while avoiding influences of a surface defect of a support tube.SOLUTION: A liquid light guide 1 has such a structure that: a clad layer 3 is formed as supported to face a hollow part of a support tube 2; the hollow part is filled with a light guide liquid 4 functioning as a core; and both ends of the core are liquid-tightly sealed by a light-transmitting plug 5. One or more primer layers 6 to support the clad layer 3 are formed by coating between the support tube 2 and the clad layer 3. A refractive index of each primer layer 6 is selected to be lower than a refractive index of the light guide liquid 4 and higher than a refractive index of the clad layer 3.
