To control the start-up and stop of an intravital observation device in a noncontact manner and with a low power consumption and to maintain the stopped state of the intravital observation device without placing a magnet in its vicinity.
The living body observation system (1) includes the intravital observation device (2) which has: an intravital information acquisition section (4-6); a power source (18); a magnetic field detection section (8) for detecting magnetic fields from outside; and an electric power supply control section which controls the state of supply of driving power supplied to the intravital information acquisition section (4-6) on the basis of electric signals. It also has a magnetic field generation section (3) which is a magnetic field generation section for generating the magnetic field and has: a transmission antenna (11) including a transmission coil (3A) for generating an AC magnetic field for controlling the start-up and stop of the intravital observation device (2) and a ferromagnetic substance which is arranged on the circumference of the transmission coil (3A) and reduces leak of the surrounding AC magnetic field and transmitting the AC magnetic field; a driver (10) which drives the transmission antenna (11); and a power source (9) which supplies the driver (10) with electric power.
