Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load driver that can shut off a current, when a battery is connected in reverse, using a simple configuration.
SOLUTION: The source of a power MOS transistor(TR) 320 is connected to a terminal 303, that is connected to ground via a power supply terminal 301, and a drain is connected to a power supply terminal 300 via a load 350. A back gate of the power MOS TR 320 is connected to the terminal 303 connected to ground via a MOS TR 321. In a normal connection, where a positive terminal of a battery is connected to the power supply terminal 300, the MOS TR 321 is set conductive to control the level of the back gate to be the same as the level of the source, thereby allowing the power MOS TR 320 to drive the load 350. When the battery is connected in reverse, a parasitic diode 330 of the power MOS TR 320 becomes forward direction to the polarity of the battery, but the MOS TR 321 is set conductive, and the parasitic diode 331 is reverse biased and a reverse current will not flow to the load.
