PURPOSE: To improve feeling of insertion, by separating a holder itself into two, and coupling and energizing the 2nd holder with the 1st holder in an unloading direction through an energizing means, and thus giving a difference in the extent of projection of a tape cartridge between loading and unloading.
CONSTITUTION: In the frame of a device 1, the 1st holder 30 is provdided to load a tape cartridge 31 from an insertion position to loaded position, and the 2nd holder 40 moves forth and back to and from the 1st holder 30. The cartridge 31 is inserted into the 2nd holder 40 and further inserted even after its rear end surface abuts on a stopper 70. Then, only the 2nd holder 40 moves as shown by an arrow B against an energizing spring 50 to operate a switch 71 with the rear end part of the cartridge 31, thereby setting the cartridge 31 at the prescribed loaded position. In unloading, the 2nd holder 40 also returns by the spring 50 in the same body with the 1st holder 30, and thus a difference in distance d2 between extents of the projection of the leading end of the cartridge 31 is given between the insertion and ejection, so the cartridge 31 is taken out easily.
