PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a margin in terms of structural strength in an LPRM.SOLUTION: A local power range neutron monitor includes: a tubular cover pipe 16 surrounding outsides of a neutron detector 11 and neutron detecting accommodation items 12 and 13; a housing pipe 15 welded to a lower end of the cover pipe 16 where the neutron detecting accommodation items 12 and 13 pass through and extend; and a discoid seal portion 17 being provided in the course of the housing pipe 15 with the neutron detecting accommodation items 12 and 13 passing therethrough. The cover pipe 16 has an enlarged portion 16a closer to a lower side than a lower end of a reactor core. An area where a cross-section of the lower end of the cover pipe 16 in a connection portion to the housing pipe 15 and a cross-section of an upper end of the housing pipe 15 overlap with each other is greater than a cross-sectional area of an upper portion of the enlarged portion 16a.
