PURPOSE: To provide a plate heat exchanger, wherein seven or more plates are stacked, such that even if the pressure of a high pressure heat exchange fluid becomes high, there is no necessity to make the thickness of an end plate larger.
CONSTITUTION: The arrangement of a plate heat exchanger is such that a plurality of intermediate plates 9, 11, 14 having therein heat exchange fluid passages are stacked to form a laminated structure, which is interposed between end plates 8, 10 and the heat exchange fluid passages of several intermediate plates are interconnected by a first communication passage to cause therethrough a first high pressure heat exchange fluid A to flow and the heat exchange fluid passages of the remainder of the intermediate plates are interconnected by a second communication passage to cause a second low pressure heat exchange fluid B to flow therethrough. And the plate 9, 14 through which the fluid B flows are disposed so as to come into contact respectively with the end plates 8, 10 at the opposite ends of the laminated structure.
