PURPOSE: To reliably select a cleat for a pedal, i.e., release of a shoe, according to a situation by providing a pedal with a stopper part to block rotation of the cleat in a state to lock the cleat mounted on a shoe to a locking body mounted on the pedal.

CONSTITUTION: In a pedal 1 for a bicycle, a pedal shaft 4 is located to the central part of a pedal body 3 provided on both sides with flat treads 2, and a pair of locking bodies 5 and 6 by which a cleat C attached to a shoe F is engaged and coupled are independently located at the front and rear and on both sides of the pedal 1. In this case, stopper parts 52 and 53 to block rotation of the cleat C around a virtual axis X through contact with the cleat C in a state to lock the cleat C to the locking bodies 5 and 6 are mounted on the pedal 1. A clearance L with which the cleat C is movable in a direction, in which the cleat is separated away from the pedal tread 2 in a state to lock the cleat C to the locking bodies 5 and 6, is increased to a value higher than height M of the stopper part S3 in a direction in which it is separated away from the pedal 1.
