To provide a lockup clutch control device for power transmission device preventing the generation of knocking or rattling in gear shifting.
This lockup clutch control device comprises a fluid joint 2, a lockup clutch 7 and a gear shift clutch 3, and it connects the lockup clutch 7 when a prescribed connecting condition is established after starting a vehicle to travel the vehicle, disconnects and connects the clutch 3 as the lockup clutch 7 remains connected in the gear shifting of a transmission T/M, and disconnects the lockup clutch 7 when a prescribed disconnecting condition is established. The disconnection judgement of the lockup clutch 7 is not permitted during the shifting of the gear of the transmission T/M, and permitted at the same time when the gear of the transmission T/M is set in a new gear step.
