Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the high refractive index and Abbes number of the titled composition, and to reduce the contraction of the titled composition at the time of molding in a casting polymerization by polymerizing a monomer contg. a specific tricyclodecane derivatives.

CONSTITUTION: The titled composition is formed by polymerizing the monomer contg. the tricyclodecane derivatives shown by formula I. The titled composition is formed by polymerizing the tricyclodecane derivative, preferably, in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator. The titled composition can be formed by jointly using the tricyclodecane derivative and an another monomer to improve the physical and the mechanical properties of the resin article of the molded body, such as the impact resistance, the contraction property and the dyeability, or to change the optical balance of the refractive index and the Abbes number. The monomer is not specified, if the monomer has the radical polymerization property, and the transparency of the obtd. polymer does not injure, and is exemplified by an acrylic acid etc., such as methyl methacrylate and cyclohexyl methacrylate.
