Abstract:

To provide a scintillator single crystal useful for positron emitting nuclide tomographic equipment, a single photon tomography, computer tomographic equipment and the like and having a large amount of emission and a short fluorescent life and a method for producing the single crystal.

The halogen-substituted fluoride scintillator material is represented by the formula: REaRE'bMc(F1-dXd)e (RE is one or more of Ce and Pr; RE' is one or more selected from La, Gd, Yb, Lu and Y; M is one or more selected from Li, Na, K, Cs, Rb, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Al; X is one or more selected from Cl, Br and I). The method for producing the single crystal comprises growing a single crystal from a melt having the composition represented by the formula by a micro-pulling-down method.
