Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-stage type inflator for supplying inflation gas to an air bag on various levels.
SOLUTION: The two-stage type inflator 10 comprises a diffuser subassembly 22, a gas generator subassembly 23, and an external housing 11 forming a pressure vessel 12 storing storage gas 13. The diffuser subassembly 22 has a burst disc 24 for blocking the outlet of the pressure container 12 and an opening device 25 for bursting the burst disc 24. The gas generator subassembly 23 has a gas generating agent 48, a gas generator subassembly housing 49 for holding a promotor 47 for generating heat to heat it, and an ignitor 40 for igniting the promotor 47. The gas generator subassembly housing 49 has a plurality of openings 45 passing into the pressure vessel 12.
