Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power amplifier which provides high RF output power and has high power-added efficiency even with a low battery voltage.SOLUTION: An apparatus includes an envelope amplifier 170a, a boost converter 180, and a power amplifier 130. The boost converter 180 generates a boosted supply voltage Vboost having a higher voltage than a first supply voltage (e.g., a battery voltage Vbat). The envelope amplifier 170a generates a second supply voltage Vpa on the basis of an envelope signal and the boosted supply voltage Vboost (optionally the first supply voltage Vbat). A power amplifier 130 operates on the basis of the second supply voltage Vpa.
