Abstract:
To ensure prevention of entrainment of an in-die agent into molten steel during lower ingot making.SOLUTION: This lower ingot making method is characterized in that the bottom inner diameter of a cast 6 is set to 1000-2000 mm, and when molten steel is injected from the bottom inlet 5 of the cast 6, a runner 3 has a horizontal runner 4 which faces a horizontal direction in the bottom of the cast 6 and the inlet 5 which communicates with the horizontal runner 4 and faces a vertical direction and through which the molten steel is injected into the cast 6, the inlet 5 has a tapered diameter-expanded part 5a diameter-expanded upward at the end of the runner on the cast 6 side, the injection flow rate of the molten steel per inlet 5 is set to 1.5-3.0 t/min., a relationship between the inner diameter D1 [mm] of the horizontal runner 4 and the inner diameter D2 [mm] of the inlet 5 on the lower end side of the diameter-expanded part 5a satisfies (6.437×W+0.741×D1-10.849≤D2≤D1), a deviation amount d between the center of the inner diameter D2 and the center of the inner diameter D1 satisfies (0.08×D1≤d≤0.5×D1), the tapered angle θ of the diameter-expanded part 5a satisfies (2°≤θ≤8°), and the inner diameter D0 of the inlet 5 satisfies 1.8×D1≤D0≤2.5×D1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
