To provide a lubricant additive having a low temperature viscosity increasing ability and also having excellent base oil dissolubility, and a lubricant composition comprising the lubricant additive and base oil.SOLUTION: A lubricant additive (R) comprises a copolymer (A) using (meth)acrylic acid ester having 1 to 32C straight or branched alkyl group as an essential constituent monomer, in which the crystallization temperature (Tcs) of the copolymer (A) is -15 to 13°C, and the weight average molecular weight of the (A) is 5,000 to 500,000.SELECTED DRAWING: None
