PURPOSE: To obtain a lubricant contg. each a specified amt. of a metal salt of an acidic org. compd., a hydrocarbyl-substd. ashless dispersant and an oil with lubricating viscosity and being excellent rust and corrosion inhibiting properties and having no possibility of generating clogging and staining of a fuel injector.
CONSTITUTION: A lubricant which comprises pref. a neutral or basic metal salt (wherein the metal is magnesium and/or barium) of an acidic org. compd. (A) contg. carboxylic acids, sulfur-contg. acids, phosphorus-contg. acids and/or phenols, 0.5-3.0 (wt.)% hydrocarbyl-substd. ashless dispersant (B) with a no. average mol.wt. of at most 1,500 and an oil (C) which is pref. a synthetic oil and has lubricating viscosity and contg. not more than 0.06% calcium, not more than 0.6% hydrocarbylsubstd. ashless dispersant with a no. average mol.wt. of at least 1,500 and not more than 0.5% olefin copolymer viscosity improver, is provided.
